While speaking to Fightful in a recent interview, Boots Murphy was asked who he believed was the top cowboy in professional wrestling, with Boots choosing Stan Hansen.

"I think the most iconic cowboy in wrestling is Stan Hansen. I think if you think of a cowboy wrestler, it's Stan Hansen. A very underrated one is JBL. I think JBL was a great character and he was, what, main event for like two years and left an impact. He was like the champion when I started watching wrestling. Overall, the person who's left an impact on cowboy wrestling is Stan Hansen. The one that's left the most impact is Stan Hansen. So Stan Hansen."

Hansen was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016, and is considered to be one of the top gaijins of Japan in his era.

Elsewhere in Boots' interview with Fightful, he discussed working in Hard Knox Pro Wrestling, calling it a freedom promotion. You can read more about that here.
