Matt Cardona Talks Holding ECW TV Title, Says Sean Ross Sapp Will Never Win Fightful Championship

Matt Cardona discusses two of the most prestigious belts in the wrestling business.

ECW was revived, well sort of, back in January 2022 when Matt Cardona was able to defeat Rhino at GCW's 'Most Notorious' event in Detroit, Michigan. Rhino put one of his old ECW Television Championship belts up for defense in the match, which allowed Cardona to be crowned the 'new' ECW TV Champion.

In a new interview with Fightful, Cardona boasted about being the last ever ECW Television Champion.

"Oh, my God. Dream come true. Legends like Rob Van Dam and to beat a legend like Rhino in his hometown of Detroit, and I’m the last ever ECW TV Champion. So that’s historic. I’m in the history books. I’m an ECW original guy, damnit."

Cardona was then asked about the Fightful Championship, which is currently held by the person doing the interview, Joel Pearl. Pearl asked Cardona if he thinks Sean Ross Sapp could ever dethrone Pearl and win back the Fightful Championship.

"I don’t think he could take anybody. Who’s the other internet dirt sheet guy they had to fight at the Ric Flair thing? Who’s that guy? He couldn’t take that guy, I’ll tell you that. He was shaking in his boots. He was doing the Ric Flair beg off. Woo."

Elsewhere in the interview, Cardona talked about the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast. Fans can learn more by clicking here.
