Christopher Daniels Says He Wants To Face Chris Jericho, Reveals His Secret To Longevity

After over two decades full-time in pro wrestling, ROH star "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels has seen and done it all outside of WWE-- almost.

Daniels, often applauded for how long he's been able to compete at such a high level told me during a recent interview that he still has goals in pro wrestling -- including facing another name often complimented for how long he's been at it.

"The number one guy has been a guy I've been singing the praises of for a long time, and that's Chris Jericho," Daniels said to Fightful as he prepares for ROH Death Before Dishonor on September 29. "He and I have a longevity in our careers, and when people talk about reinventing yourselves, invariably they talk about Chris Jericho and they talk about me. I take that as a high compliment to even be compared to Chris in that respect. Anything I've done, Chris has done at a higher level and success rate. The fact that he and I haven't had the opportunity to square off, that's a little disappointing."

"The Fallen Angel" noted that he'll be on Chris Jericho's Rock N' Wrestling Rager at Sea in October, and seemed hopeful some interaction could take place there. Before that, however, he has a date with the Briscoe Brothers for the ROH Tag Titles at Death Before Dishonor. With thousands of matches and 48 years under his belt, Daniels told me his secret to avoiding injury -- outside of a shoulder that we saw taped up for months in 2004.

"I've been very fortunate, very lucky to not have injury. The few times I get banged up, it's stuff I can work through. That shoulder injury I had, that was probably the last injury I had that made me take a match off. I got in the habit of working smart in the sense that I never did anything I didn't think I could do every time I tried it. I'm all for trying for innovation and taking risks in a ring, but mine have always been calculated. Mine are things I can do three minutes into the match, or 30 minutes into the match," said Daniels.

Daniels has the unique distinction of wrestling on TV for WWE, ECW, WCW, NWA, TNA, NJPW, ROH, among other promotions.

You can catch Daniels as he teams with fellow member of Addiction and SCU, Kazarian. They'll be taking on The Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Champions at ROH Death Before Dishonor September 28. You can order the show on ROH's HonorClub service, or via PPV on Fite.
