At IMPACT Rebellion, IMPACT Wrestling announced that the promotion would once again partner with NJPW for Multiverse 2 on August 20.
Deonna Purrazzo played a major role at Multiverse 1 when she defeated Masha Slamovich, Gisele Shaw, and Miyu Yamashita in a four-way bout to earn a shot at the IMPACT Knockouts Championship at Rebellion. Purrazzo would go on to defeat Jordynne Grace for the vacant Knockouts Title at Rebellion.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl on Fightful's In The Weeds, Purrazzo was asked who she would like to meet at Multiverse 2.
"Obviously, the first person everyone thinks about is Mercedes Mone. That is a dream match of mine, for years now. If that is an opportunity, I would be remised not to be like, 'Yes, that's what I want, that's what I need.' If Mayu wins, I've been in a match with Mayu, she beat me at Ring of Honor to challenge for the then Women of Honor Championship. There is some history there that could be really fun to revisit if Mayu ends up defeating Mercedes," she said.
Mercedes will defend her IWGP Women's Championship against Mayu Iwatani at STARDOM All Star Grand Queendom on April 23.
