Tessa Blanchard has exploded onto the Impact Wrestling scene, but as it turns out, she's still very much a free agent.
The 22-year old Blanchard gets rave reviews for her mic work and wrestling skills, but hasn't landed anywhere full time despite making appearances for WWE and Lucha Underground in the past. When I spoke to Blanchard recently, she cleared up her status with Impact Wrestling, and revealed that she's not locked down in any way -- at least not yet.
"I'm actually not under contract of any kind. We're actually in negotiations right now. No matter what people say online, believe half of what you see, half of what you read, and that's all I have to say about that," Blanchard told me.
Last year, there were rumblings that Blanchard had impressed WWE officials, but a deal never ended up materializing. That hasn't stopped Impact Wrestling from getting in the Blanchard business, as they brought her into their Redemption pay-per-view and subsequently pushed her.
Blanchard is also set for the upcoming All-In independent supershow in September. Fightful spoke with her backstage at the show's press conference last month.
