Gabe Kidd: If You’re Going To Be IWGP Champion, You Stay In Japan, That’s How It’s Always Been

Gabe Kidd isn't a fan of the current situation surrounding the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

At NJPW Windy City Riot in April, Jon Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito and captured the title for the very first time in his career. This title switch came as a shock for many fans, as Moxley does not regularly appear for NJPW in Japan.

As it turns out, Gabe Kidd was not a fan of the move either. While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, Kidd said that the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has a responsibility of showing up in Japan.

"If you’re going to be IWGP Champion, you stay in Japan. That’s how it’s always been. You talk about respect for this company and that title. Well, come here for a month. Oh, you can’t, you have a family at home, you have commitments in America? That’s a shame. I don’t give a fuck. If you’re the champion, you have a responsibility. With great power comes great responsibility. Fucking deal with it."

Elsewhere in the interview, Kidd talked about his schedule and teased a possible debut in SGW. Fans can learn more here.
