Hikaru Shida Says She Would Have Liked To Face Jamie Hayter At AEW All In

Hikaru Shida is set to defend her AEW Women's Championship in a four-way bout against Toni Storm, Saraya, and Britt Baker at AEW All In.

One name noticeably absent from the list is Jamie Hayter, the former AEW Women's Champion who lost the side to Storm at AEW Double or Nothing 2023 and is currently sidelined with an injury.

Shida and Hayter are no strangers, facing each other multiple times in AEW, including a headline bout on the December 21, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite.

“In my opinion, that match is my best bout in AEW and that was my first time main eventing Dynamite so that match was very special for me," Shida told Tempest of Wrestletalk, representing Fightful.

When asked about Hayter missing AEW All In, Shida replied, “Yeah, [she’s probably] is so disappointed now. I would [have liked to face her] as a champion.”

Shida won the AEW Women's Title at AEW Dynamite 200 on August 2, defeating Toni Storm to kick off her second reign as champion.

“It was so different from the first time. I know it sounds cringe, I could hear fans [when I won the title the first time]. I thought it was normal, but after pandemic, I realized it’s not normal. It’s special to hear fans, yeah. The moment is the proudest moment in my life," Shida said about the differences between her two title victories.

Shida originally won the title at AEW Double Or Nothing 2020, but her reign took place during the pandemic and all her title defenses were at Daily's Place.
