Jay White Shuts Down AEW Rumors, Confirms WWE Interest, Discusses NJPW Contract Status

“Switchblade '' Jay White took over the reins of Bullet Club as Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks exited New Japan Pro-Wrestling to start up AEW.

In the years since, especially as working relationships continue to prosper between AEW and other promotions, many fans continue to wonder when Jay White will appear in All Elite Wrestling.

Taking the chance to clear out some of the rumors during an exclusive interview with Sean Ross Sapp, Jay White says that he has never been contacted as of yet in regards to AEW.

“No. I shouldn’t even answer this because I shouldn’t humor it. I was never or have never been approached in regards to AEW. Especially when they were starting up. I don’t know where that rumor came from. It’s just like everything else to do with wrestling in regards to wrestling, people just like to push shit out there as if it’s true and everyone just eats it up. No, I was never approached in regards to AEW. I don’t know where that came from.”

He continued, “It just hurts my brain. The only part of that where there was any truth is the very first part of it, talking about the start of this year and about a certain company. Anything after that, none of that is true. It’s completely false. People, I’m sure, they’re probably going to respond and say, ‘Oh, he’s just saying that because he’s not into telling the truth.’ But I’m doing you a favor and telling you the truth here—them approaching me and some contract I was on, both things 100% false.”

White says that he could lead everybody on and tease going to AEW, but it would be a complete fabrication solely done to manipulate those that believe everything they read online.

“I could come on here and I could have said something ridiculous and everybody’s just gonna believe it because it was on the internet. Somebody said it on the internet! People are always just gonna believe it. They don’t actually think, ‘Oh, maybe this is bullshit.’ Most of the time it is and if they realize it’s bullshit, well then they can’t live in their little fantasy world then, can they?

“You know what? I don’t like to do interviews too much, but I don’t mind getting this out there. Every now and then I just like to clear up some of the bullshit. Bring all of these fans’ worlds crashing down. They think all this stuff is happening when it’s not.”

White would further cement his lack of contact with AEW and sarcastically provide fans with the answer they have been waiting for.

“But, here we go, I’ll just appear on AEW on the next show. There you go, you can start telling everybody that,” White said in jest. “That’s the one I always get. I’m surprised you even asked me that. So props to you. I always get, ‘Oh, when are you gonna be here?’ You think I’m just gonna be, ‘Oh, this Wednesday, I’m gonna be there. Just watch. Promise.’”

Jay White will be competing at NJPW Battle in the Valley. He will defend the NEVER Openweight Championship against Tomohiro Ishii. Per the stipulation, if Ishii loses, he can never challenge for the NEVER Openweight Championship again.

Battle in the Valley will stream live on FITE on Saturday, November 13. You can pre-order the event on FITE
