Joe Gacy Says His Character Is 'Something Else' From Bray Wyatt

Joe Gacy signed with WWE in 2020 and was part of the 2021 NXT Breakout Tournament, but it wasn't until NXT 2.0 launched that Gacy found a consistent home on television.

A politically correct Gacy invited everyone into his "safe space" with a persona that was covered by the New York Post. Over the months, Gacy's character has evolved, turning more into a cult leader, who was followed by Harland while feuding with NXT Champion Bron Breakker.

Gacy has kidnapped Breakker's father Rick Steiner and used Steiner's WWE Hall of Fame ring as a negotiating tool during the feud.

Gacy's character has drawn comparisons to Bray Wyatt, who famously led the Wyatt Family in cult-like fashion during his NXT run before the group was transitioned to the main roster.

Speaking to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Gacy touched on the comparisons between himself and the Wyatt family leader.

"For me, it's completely something else. I would say that, what I'm doing, it's always been there for me, I just have never had platform like this to display it. I tried to go about it one way before I came to WWE and, very quickly, you have to introduce yourself and explain yourself while also having matches in other areas. Coming to WWE, weekly, you have the opportunity to introduce yourself a little bit at a time every Tuesday night. For me, it's always been there and always been in here [points to head], it's just coming out slowly," he said.

Gacy has used druids to help do his bidding following the release of Harland at the end of April.

Gacy challenged Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship at NXT In Your House on June 4.
