Johnny Impact Remembers His Friendship With The Late Matt Cappoteli

Johnny Impact wasn't always a seasoned television star. In 2003, he was making his national TV debut on Tough Enough, which he'd go on to win.

He wasn't alone, however, as his co-winner Matt Cappotelli would continue his wrestling journey with Johnny. Unfortunately, earlier this year, Cappotelli lost his battle with cancer. When speaking to, Johnny looked back at his friendship with the beloved personality.

"Man, it's still tough for me to talk about Matt a little bit. To this day, he's one of the best people I've met in this business, and my first best friend in the wrestling business. We were co-winners of Tough Enough 3. Moved to Louisville together on the same day, moved in together. I talked to him about anything that was bothering me in wrestling. You know one of my favorite things about him? It didn't matter how crappy practice was, he'd throw on some classic rock. Something like Petty, and was so positive and happy, it really affected me. It made me positive and happy. I carried that with me from the day that I met him," said Johnny.

While the two met on Tough Enough, and competed together in WWE, it was OVW where the two spent the most time. Johnny admitted to us that he was contacted for the 1000th episode of Ohio Valley Wrestling, but couldn't make it. Johnny did seem optimistic about the direction of the company, though.

"I know that Al Snow took over at OVW, Tommmy Dreamer was down there for the 1000th, they're doing some cool stuff down there," said Johnny.

You can see Johnny Impact, as he competed in the main event of Impact Wrestling's PPV Bound For Glory, which you can check out on FITE TV.
