Kid Lykos: Mad Kurt Was More Than Just A Pro Wrestler, We Had Similar Views On What Wrestling Could Be

Kid Lykos rememebers Mad Kurt and hosting Mad Kurt Forever.

In December of 2023, the wrestling world tragically lost Mad Kurt, with the British Wrestling scene launching into a litany of tributes, including a show in his memory in March of this year titled "Mad Kurt Forever", with all proceeds going to the Chapman family.

While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, Kid Lykos rememebred Mad Kurt, and noted how therapeutic it was for the scene to host Mad Kurt Forever in his memory.

"I think, first of all, every memory involving Kurt is a fun memory for the most part, because he was just so fun. He's just a hilarious person. The event itself was real special, although so far, on from the initial event, we all had the initial, like, horrible day at the unboxing show in December. Then, we've all, like, had taken our time coming to terms with it, or even if we'd not come to terms with it, we're just getting back to normal life. But then the event is a chance to really, like, it's a bit of, it's a bit therapeutic in that sense. It was special to raise that money for for Kurt on a show that wasn't just pro wrestling, cause Kurt wasn't just a pro wrestler. I would say we had similar views on what wrestling could be. Which was nice that when everyone volunteered to do the show, we could put together some ideas that we thought were real fun and real stupid. So like, like, I mean, where on a show you're going to see Andy Quilden versus Minoru Suzuki. You know what I mean? It was just real special to do a night of wrestling that he would have been proud of, I think, for the silliness, but also where people in his life stepped up for, like, good matches as well. Harry's the best example who's had a a great night on that show, let alone the last show we did where he wrestled Luke and had an amazing keyboard deathmatch. So it's nice to, it was amazing to raise that money. It was amazing to honor our friend. It was amazing that so many people traveled to the show from all over the country. It's nice that we have this championship in honor of him in our company that hasn't had a title because it's a variety show, silly boogers wrestling. So it's nice to have that as well."

Lykos is currently set to defend the Progress World Title against Mark Haskins this weekend in a rematch of the 2023 Super Strong Style 16 finals.
