Lyra Valkyria talks to Joel Pearl of Fightful about entering WrestleMania as the inaugural WWE Women's Intercontinental Champion and competing for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Lyra Valkyria will team with one of her idols, Bayley, to wrestle for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. She's also the current WWE Intercontinental Champion for the women's division and is the only woman to have held that Championship so far. She recently previewed her upcoming WrestleMania match during an interview with Fightful's Joel Pearl during a media scrum ahead of WrestleMania 41.
Valkyria struggles for the words to explain how much this moment means to her, but she is grateful for the potential of walking out of WrestleMania as a double champion.
"It’s absolutely insane. I get to walk into WrestleMania as champion, potentially walk out with two titles on my shoulder. I really don’t have words. There are too many emotions. Just try to contain them all and work through it."
Asked if she had thought of a name for her team with Bayley. She said they've been given some terrible suggestions.
"No, we’re still waiting for names. We’ve had some very terrible suggestions," she said.
When Joel Pearl suggested bird models, Lyra said she thought it was cool and then offered some remixes on that name suggestion, "Bird Models? I think that’s cool. Bird Models. Role Birds."
That match will take place on WrestleMania Sunday. Check out the full card here.
Should she win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship with Bayley she already knows she has to defend the title on Tuesday at WWE NXT. Learn more here.
