Mads Krule Krugger Says Jacob Fatu Picked Him To Be Final MLW Opponent

Mads Krule Krugger says Jacob Fatu picked him for his final MLW match.

In February 2024, Jacob Fatu said goodbye to MLW by facing Krugger in a Baklei Brawl match. Krugger went over in the bout, defeating Fatu after throwing a fireball in his face and hitting him with his scorched earth finisher.

As it turns out, Fatu picked Krugger to be his final opponent in MLW. While chatting with Fightful's In The Weeds podcast for a new interview, Krugger recalled the moment, saying that Fatu enjoyed their previous matches.

"He did (pick me to be his last opponent) because he enjoyed it so much the first time around. It’s one of those things, you go back and look at it, I didn’t realize how great the work we were doing together was until I went back and looked at it and went, ‘Wow, this was a great series of matches that we had’ and the story that we told was really good. In the moment, you’re just focused on that and getting it done and making sure you’re doing it the right way. When you go back and look at it, ‘Oh, I like that too.’ He appreciated it as well. It was a great honor that he would put my name out there and say, ‘That’s the guy I want to leave (going out) on my back.’"

Elsewhere in the interview, Krugger explained his decision to sign a multi-year deal with MLW. Learn more by clicking here.
