Man Like DeReiss Reflects On Competing In The J-Cup, Tagging With Chris Bey

Man Like DeReiss looks back on a busy beginning to February.

At the beginning of the month, DeReiss would compete in several matches for GCW, including a first round bout in the Jersey J-Cup. Unfortunately, DeReiss would be eliminated in the first round by Masha Slamovich but would compete in several other matches, teaming and facing with Chris Bey as well as featuring in a 12 person tag team match.

While speaking with Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, DeReiss reflected on his appearance in the Jersey J-Cup.

"I thought the Jersey J- Cup was a wicked opportunity. Like, as you say, I was only last in the first round. But that's because I got Masha Slamovich, man and no one could beat her in a whole tournament. So I feel like if the draw was different, then maybe I would have got further and then maybe would have lost to Masha in the final. But, like, luck of the draw and on that weekend, Masha Slamovich was the best wrestler there and fair play to her. But in general, the whole experience was amazing. I was there not long ago in November and that was great. And I was thinking, how can this one top the last tour, but surpass it even more so?"

DeReiss was then asked about working with Chris Bey, to which DeReiss noted he hopes to team with Bey again in the future.

"Yeah, he's a fantastic wrestler as well. Obviously, he's TNA Tag Team Champion at the moment. He's wrestled all over the globe. He's got his own tag partner, Ace Austin, and he's fantastic as well, so... like we've only met like a couple of times prior to this. So like we didn't exactly know each other very well, but I feel like we had natural chemistry, which showed, especially in the tag match against some Sam Stackhouse and Fuego Del Sol. Hopefully we get to do it again at some point in the future."

DeReiss is also currently the Kamikaze champion, most recently defending the title vs Omari on February 16th.

Elsewhere in the same interview with Fightful, DeReiss addressed what the backstage atmosphere was like at AEW All In. You can read more here.
