Matt Cardona: If I Never Came To GCW, They Wouldn't Have Even Tried To Run The Hammerstein Ballroom

Matt Cardona is gonna take GCW on his back to Madison Square Garden, or so he says.

Game Changer Wrestling is headed to the Hammerstein Ballroom on January 23, 2022. So far, they have touted selling out the venue and having the largest crowd to have ever seen professional wrestling in the arena coming to that venue.

Matt Cardona, naturally, believes this is 100% because of his involvement.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp at WrestleCade Revenge, Cardona made it clear that they would not have even attempted to run the venue if not for him.

"Brett Lauderdale, you’re welcome. I’m not saying that I single-handedly sold out the Hammerstein Ballroom, but I am saying If I never came to GCW, they would not have even attempted to run the Hammerstein Ballroom. That’s what I’m saying."

Furthermore, Cardona would say that eventually they'll even be able to run venues like Madison Square Garden, the Barclays Center, or the Nassau Coliseum because of his involvement.

"Baby steps. But I’m a big dreamer, big thinker—MSG? Barclays Center? Nassau Coliseum? I don’t know. The ECW Arena. They’ve never done the ECW Arena, have they? If they did, not when I was there. So it doesn’t count. I’ve never done the ECW Arena."

Matt Cardona would even take credit for Ring of Honor using Effy in recent months. To put it simply, Matt Cardona just believes that he is the reason for the boom in GCW and the success of all of its talents.

"Because I’m involved. Really they want Effy involved, then I’ll tweet about Effy, and then maybe someone will be like, ‘Include Ring of Honor in that tweet,’ and I’ll be like, ‘No.’ Because I just tweet what I want. Because I’m the Internet Champion, two times, I beat Effy. Can we wrap this up?"

Matt Cardona is slated to take on GCW mainstay Joey Janela at The WRLD on GCW from the Hammerstein Ballroom on Sunday, January 23. You can order the event live on FITE.
