Michael Richard Blais On Facing Mike Bailey: I'll Prove I Can Hang With The Best

Michael Richard Blais is one of the top names on the Canadian independent scene, and on September 29, he hopes to show the rest of the world just how good he is while putting Love Pro Wrestling in a bigger spotlight.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey is coming to LPW for his first match ever in the promotion, and MRB has been tasked with taking on a man who is considered by many to be one of the top wrestlers in the world. Bailey has wrestled a who's who of opponents over the years, and MRB knows the importance of this bout on Friday.

"I was very grateful and happy that was the decision Spencer [Spencer Love] came to," MRB said on In The Weeds with Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl when asked for his reaction when he found out he would be facing Bailey.

"Obviously, I respect Speedball, and he has a ridiculous resume and is a very good pro wrestler. When I watch him, I'm like, 'This is a guy I can do something really cool with.' Personally, for me, that's a cool thing. At the same time, people don't see it, because I used to say this area in Western Canada is sort of the black hole of wrestling. You wouldn't see almost anything come out of here. I had big matches with Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, a whole series with Cody Rhodes, Josh Alexander, all this stuff that never got seen outside of here or isn't super known. I've been put in these positions before, but it was always with PWA, which is an established company. This one, not only do I have that same, 'I have to show everybody in the world,' I already showed people when I wrestled Samoa Joe and Cody, that I can hang on that level. I have to do that again with Speedball. This time, it's not just me. I feel like it's the first time this is really happening in LPW. Now, it's like, the weight of, not the entire company, because all the guys and girls on the show that night are going to show how good they are. There is a lot of weight to show that this guy, who is seen as one of the top dudes in the company, can hang with one of the top guys in the entire world. To me, when I show that, it means nobody can deny that LPW and this scene in general is right up there with the rest of the world. When I found out, I was instantly happy, but I was like, 'it's proving time,' not just for me, but for everybody else. A really big deal," he stated.
