Naomi On Expanding Her Move-Set, Her Rivalry With Sonya Deville, And Reuniting With Cameron

Naomi talks about adding to her arsenal, finally having a long-standing rivalry in WWE, and reuniting with Cameron at the Royal Rumble.

So far 2022 has been a banner year for Naomi. She has been a focal point of programming oh, had the opportunity to team with Ronda Rousey at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia, and captured the WWE women's Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 38 with Sasha Banks.

Talking with Sean Ross Sapp ahead of WrestleMania 38, Naomi spoke about adding more moves to her repertoire as of late saying that she has learned to eliminate things she is unsure of, but will always try damn near anything.

“I’ll try, pretty much, damn near anything. But it doesn’t’ always work out. I’ve learned to contain that over the years and eliminate the things that don’t work or I’m unsure of. I’m always trying new stuff,” she said.

Naomi did break out a new tag team finisher with Sasha Banks in order to win those Tag Team Championship title belts at WrestleMania. However, before that, her entire year was focused on the Rivalry she had with Sonya Deville. Naomi expressed excitement about finally having a long-standing story on WWE television and says that she doesn't believe that she is finished with Sonya yet.

“I don’t know because my entire career I’ve never really had a storyline like that, that focused on me. Let alone that lasted a month, longer than two weeks,” Naomi explained. “So I wasn’t sure what it was going to come about, but I was super excited to be a part of a storyline and to also have a great heel to work. I feel like my job was made a lot easier because she was and is so terrible and so unfair and abused her power a lot. I feel like I learned a lot, I feel like I grew a lot. I know that I’m capable of carrying a story like that. Honestly, I want to beat her up some more. I need to get her some more, I need a little more.”

Part of that rivalry saw Sonya eliminate Cameron at this year's Royal Rumble. Cameron, Ariane Andrew was making her long-awaited return to WWE and unfortunately didn't last too long in the ring but Naomi says that there were happy tears shed behind the scenes for the two reuniting.

“It was the best,” Naomi said. “We stay in touch, but obviously, we don’t get to see each other as often as we would like. There was some tears and there was a lot of cries. Who knows, I don’t think that’s the end for Cameron. She’s definitely expressed that she wants to be involved and come back and do it one more time. So maybe somewhere down the road there’s a bigger Funkadactyl reunion. I would love that. I love her. I still think there’s more you can get out of the funks.”
