On March 1, Ring of Honor announced that Ninja Mack would be in action at ROH Supercard of Honor on April 1 as part of WrestleMania weekend.
ROH went on a live event hiatus following Final Battle in December with the promise to "reimagine" the product upon its return at Supercard of Honor. The announcement of Ninja Mack brought a fresh talent to the company as he would be making his debut after building his name in Game Changer Wrestling and other independent companies.
On March 2, Tony Khan announced he had purchased Ring of Honor.
Khan would later clarify that ROH Supercard of Honor would continue as scheduled and he has since promised to deliver one of the best shows of WrestleMania weekend.
Khan has made multiple ROH Supercard of Honor announcements since he became the official owner of the company, but Ninja Mack is still without an opponent.
Speaking to Fightful, Mack confirmed that he is still booked for Supercard of Honor, but has not spoken to his new boss.
"Nope," he said when asked if he's spoken to Khan. "I know the announcement March 1st, but the people I was in contact with was about, I want to say, was two weeks before that when they reached out. Because they reached out and they want to do business, they want to hear numbers, they want to make sure you’re available. But at the time they gave me a list of some opponents. I was like, ‘Yeah. All of them are great opponents, that one you started off with? Phenomenal. I would love it. The other two, great. I’ll take them.’ Then I get announced and when they announce me I thought I was going to get announced with my match and that’s how I was gonna find out. When they announced me it doesn’t happen and then the next day Tony Khan buys Ring of Honor. I went, ‘Oh, this is interesting. This is something new that I thought they would have brought up. That’s another company buying another company booking me.’ But, yeah, I have no contact. Never talked to Tony Khan before. I had AEW reach out to me, I want to say, June of last year for an AEW Dark match and I appreciate the opportunity, but at the time I was unable to do AEW Dark so I had to tell them, ‘No.’ Moving forward maybe it happens, maybe it doesn’t.
"But right now I’m winging it. I’m hoping someone shows up for a good opponent. If not, I’ll go out there and I’ll go ten minutes entertaining by myself in front of a crowd with a mic. That’s not a problem to me. So give me an opponent, don’t give me an opponent, it won’t matter. I’m gonna go out there no matter what for ten to fifteen minutes and entertain."
Ninja Mack praised Khan for the card he's booked so far, saying he's bringing "fire" and that every match is a main event level bout.
Speaking about his opponent, Mack said he requested to face an ROH alumni.
"I would say I did request, when I took this match, I did request an alumni of Ring of Honor for my match. Someone that was influenced—now this is before the purchase, so I don’t know if that’s reasonable—but on my request I didn’t want to just have a random match. I wanted to have a match with someone related in the history of Ring of Honor. So if they go through with that I think it would be someone that was related to Ring of Honor previously. I don’t think it’d be anyone unrelated to Ring of Honor," he said.
Two names thrown at Mack were Amazing Red and Low Ki.
On Amazing Red, Mack said, "That was the first name that was thrown out when they offered. To my understanding, he’s slowed down on taking some bookings. Very select with his bookings, which he has the right to do. The guy’s great, he’s been around forever. If he ever wanted to have a match with Ninja Mack, with all respect, that’s something I would look forward, Mr. Amazing Red. If not, like I said, maybe one day in the future for something else. But I do want, one day, me and Amazing Red and just see. I’m wearing some red right now, man. But yeah, that was a name that was thrown out there. Man, I fought for that name. I was like, ‘Please. If I gotta take less money and he gets more money to come in. We’ll make it happen.’ But, like I said, I’ve not been in touch with anyone."
On Low Ki, who helped train Mack and who he previously faced at Loko Wrestling in 2021, Mack said, "Low-Ki was the name I made a pitch for besides Amazing Red. I just [seen], ‘If Amazing Red couldn’t come through, I would like to run it back with Low-Ki.’ He did get the best of me at Loko in Houston. That was a couple of months ago. I’ve grown in the last four months tremendously. So I think to take another shot at Ki would have been great. But, hey, anyone that’s been related to Ring of Honor is gonna be an honor to wrestle. Everyone. If they were on that show, they’re a high level performer that it’s not gonna matter who they give me. It’s gonna be a great match and we’re gonna do some great things."
