Rocky Romero: Scott D'Amore Is The Reason NJPW Is Back On AXS TV

Rocky Romero talks his relationship with Scott D'Amore.

New Japan Pro Wrestling seemingly has the most working relationships out of any company in pro wrestling, and that can be mainly attributed to the workings of Rocky Romero. Notably, Romero plays a big part in helping the company work out deals with foreign talent and/or companies. The head of Roppongi Vice is also one of the key contributors of NJPW STRONG.

In recent years, NJPW has redeveloped a working relationship with IMPACT Wrestling. In a recent interview with Fightful, Romero discussed Scott D'Amore, who is the Executive Vice President of IMPACT.

"Scott D’Amore has been nothing but a man of his word when it comes to dealing with New Japan and also being super influential and being the reason why New Japan is back on AXS. That’s all Scott’s work. He’s been great. Obviously, both companies can help each other. They are of similar size, and our demographics might be a little bit different, but I think there is enough space to help each other. new Japan bring a certain type of fan, IMPACT brings a certain type of fan to AXS, and 2023 should really be, especially with fans being able to cheer in Japan, the show is going to get exciting for fans. AXS is going to be a really important part of that and working with IMPACT."

IMPACT regularly features NJPW's Bullet Club stable on their programming, which has allowed IMPACT stars like Chris Bey and Ace Austin to join the group. According to Karl Anderson, Austin joining the group was a decision that came from Scott D'Amore.
