As his career in pro wrestling has continued to progress, Benjamin has continued to rack up more notoriety in the world of the squared circle. In a new interview with Fightful, Benjamin talked about his easy transition into the business.

"I did it previous to this sport. I was a mixed martial arts fighter and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu grappler, undefeated as a mixed martial arts fighter. I have professional boxing experience as well. I’ve won medals in grappling. So it was a natural transition into pro wrestling, something I loved the whole time. But now we’re really bringing that side forward in the squared circle."

Benjamin went on and talked about the easiest and hardest parts of the sport-to-sport transition.

"The hardest thing is staying on one side, working one side of the body. That’s the hardest thing because I am ambidextrous, so I fight south paw and I fight orthodox. That’s what allowed me the success that I had, being able to transition and switch. But the easiest part was definitely the timing and the grappling aspects."

Benjamin joins names like Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, and Matt Riddle as athletes who have all made their name as successful crossover athletes.
