Why Kevin Owens Pirate Ship Jump Didn't Happen At WrestleMania 37

A long awaited spot didn't happen, but for good reason.

When WWE announced a pirate-theme WrestleMania, many expected the pirate ship that resides at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa to be integrated into a spot. With the 2020 WrestleMania moved to the WWE Performance Center, 2021 looked like an option, and Kevin Owens looked like he'd be the guy to do it. However, unfortunately that wasn't the case. Fightful Select found out why.

Many expected Kevin Owens to make a huge leap from the pirate ship set at WrestleMania this year after he'd declared his desire to do so. Talent and backstage speculation after WrestleMania was that weather may have prevented that from happening. As it turns out, that wasn't the case. There was discussions between talent and creative throughout the week, but the match not being no-DQ proved a big hurdle. The ship on the set was also a lot larger than many expected, but the weather as the final nail in the coffin. The spot was never planned in the final stages of the match that ended up going on as presented.

Kevin Owens did note in the last week that he would happily jump off of the Smackdown fist if that set was ever brought back for use.
