Finn Balor On Match With Karrion Kross: It Didn't Need A Build Or Us Fighting Much

The story of Finn Balor vs. Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship wrote itself upon Kross' return from his shoulder injury in December.

Kross won the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver XXX in August but had to relinquish the championship on the following episode of NXT due to a separated shoulder. Balor would win the vacant championship in September.

Despite Kross returning in December, he didn't confront Balor until March 10, giving the two a month to build their NXT TakeOver match on Thursday.

According to Balor, they didn't need much of a build to sell the match.

"I feel like this match didn't really need a build or us fighting too much. It needed one or two promos and the spectacle will sell the match. There are other matches where you kind of have to build the heat or draw the story out, but I feel this one the story was there. He lost the title because of an injury, I'm the champ, he's a big badass killer, and he wants to kill me," said Balor on the What's The Story? podcast.

The build for Balor and Kross has featured the two men failing to coexist in tag team action, losing to Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan along with multiple promos and video packages.

Balor vs. Kross will headline night two of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver on Thursday, April 8. You can view the current lineup for NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver by clicking here.
