Finn Bálor: Seeing AJ Styles Retire Made Me Realize My Days Are Numbered
Bálor knows his days in the ring are limited.
After 26 years as a wrestler, AJ Styles put a bow on his in-ring career and retired. On the 2/23 Monday Night Raw, there were tributes for Styles throughout the broadcast, and the night ended with Styles delivering a speech and being surrounded by his family, friends, and colleagues. He was also informed that he is going into the WWE Hall of Fame.
One of the individuals in attendance for the celebration was Finn Bálor. While speaking to Shakiel Mahjouri, Bálor said seeing Styles retire made him realize his time left in the business is limited.
“Seeing him (AJ Styles) retire kind of made it bring it home to me that my days are numbered too. Because, you know, AJ’s been kind of an ever-present for me for the last 20, 25 years. So it kind of got me thinking about my story in the business and what I need to do, and there’s a lot of talk about ‘finishing the story’ in wrestling. But I feel like my story doesn’t need to be finished. It needs to be completely rewritten because I have this massive stain on my career from 10 years ago when I got hurt and I had to relinquish the Universal Championship…”
Bálor is scheduled for the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event on 2/28. He’ll be challenging CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
