Flip Gordon Wins The 'Over The Budget' Battle Royal; Fails To Win The ROH World Championship

A momentous night for Flip but he could not finish the job.

The ‘Over The Budget’ Battle Royal was the last match that aired on WGN America before ‘All In’ transitioned over to ‘HonorClub’ and FITE TV. The Battle Royal featured the likes of WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray, Punishment Martinez, Cheeseburger, Marko Stunt, Colt Cabana, Billy Gunn and his son Austin Gunn, Tommy Dreamer, Brian Cage and many other competitors from around the wrestling world.

The final two competitors seemingly left in the match were Colt Cabana and Bully Ray and those two men have been at odds for months on ROH TV and those in attendance inside of the Sears Centre were rapid as they cheered on the hometown boy Colt Cabana. Bully Ray ended up taking the reigns and eliminated Cabana from the match but the bout was not over just yet as a competitor dressed up as El Chico Luchador who had been put through a table earlier in the match made his way back into the ring. That competitor revealed himself to be none other than Flip Gordon who has been attempting and failing to get booked for ‘All In’ since the initial announcement of the show. Flip Gordon “booked himself” and knocked Bully Ray out of the ring to become the winner of the ‘Over The Budget’ Battle Royal. Not only was it a victory for Gordon, but he also earned himself a shot at Jay Lethal’s ROH World Championship later on in the night.

It was time for that match but Flip Gordon was not facing the Jay Lethal that he was expecting as Lethal was in full "Black Machismo" mode. Lethal was also accompanied to the ring by the brother of "Macho Man" Randy Savage, Lanny Poffo. In what was a momentous start to 'All In' for Flip Gordon, he could not finish the job he started as he was defeated by the reigning ROH World Champion.

Following the match Bully Ray came down to the ring and attempted to put an end to the sportsmanship that the defending champion Jay Lethal showed Flip Gordon. Bully's brief reign of terror was soon put to an end and Bully was put through a table by Lethal, Gordon and Colt Cabana who made his way down to the ring to get his revenge as well.

'All In' is coming to an end with one more match left on the card. Head over to the "podcasts" section of the site where our crew will be reviewing the action that has taken place and will take place tonight.
