Francesco Akira Returns To NJPW, Joins English Commentary Team For Opening Day Of Super Junior Tag League
Akira is back on NJPW programming.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling kicked off the 2025 Super Junior Tag League tournament on October 23rd. It was revealed that the English commentary team for the show was Chris Charlton and three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Francesco Akira.

Akira has been out of action as he’s recovering from surgery for a broken wrist. He suffered the injury in a match for Revolution Pro Wrestling. Akira went for a poisonrana and, as he came down, he slammed his wrist hard onto the mat.
Akira is a past winner of the Super Junior Tag League alongside TJP. They won the tournament in 2023.
