Frank Grillo discusses John Cena.

As part of the Peacemaker franchise, Grillo and John Cena have found themselves sharing the screen in the series led by James Gun. Grillo recently commented about his son chastising him for not knowing who Cena was, and has gone into detail about why he enjoys Cena’s work as an actor.

While speaking on an episode of My Mom’s Basement, Frank Grillo spoke about Peacemaker season 2.

“You got to see where this goes. I mean, it’s next level. John Cena completely knocks it out of the park. He is, I mean- he’s- I know there was just this thing I was reading about the best wrestlers turned actors. I think it’s, and I love Batista, he’s great. But I think John Cena, the work he’s done is- because he’s done it all. You go from comedy to drama. It’s slapsticky and physical and not an easy thing to pull off and he does it in spades, man.”

After Robbie noted that Cena elevates any project he’s in, Grillo went one step further that he elevates anyone he works with.

“I’ll tell you, I’ll go one step further. He elevates every person that he’s around. I mean, I think, I don’t think, I know he’s like the largest contributor to the Make A Wish foundation more than any other, five people combined, I think. He’s the type of guy who, I go in my trailer between takes and I dribble, I drool, you know, I’m waiting to go on and do the next thing. Right. He’s in there with a piano, uh, learning to play piano while learning Mandarin. You know what I mean? It’s like, I hate him.”
