He was released by WWE on October 29, 2017, and since then has continued to wrestle on the independents has even made appearances for New Japan of America.

In a 2019 interview with WrestlingInc., Young said his release took a tremendous toll on his mental and emotional health.

"When I got released from WWE in 2017 it broke me," Young said. "2018 opened my eyes, and 2019 I had laser-like focus, just like I had when I was chasing the dream of becoming a WWE Superstar. I've been out here in LA taking acting classes, trying to do whatever I have to do to be seen on the big screen."

Recently, Rosser took to his Twitter account to reveal that he has reached out to AEW about potentially wrestling for the promotion, but they have turned him down twice.
