Fred Rosser Says He's Thinking About Dressing Up As The Black John Cena For NJPW's Halloween Show

NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Fred Rosser says he's thinking about dressing up as the Black John Cena for Halloween.

Rosser has been jokingly called the Black John Cena in the past, as they somewhat look like each other. During his days in WWE, Rosser, then known as Darren Young, feuded with John Cena as a member of the Nexus.

Speaking on Insiders Edge: A Pro Wrestling Podcast, Rosser discussed how he has been compared to Cena. He noted that he didn't know where it started before he shifted gears and brought up NJPW's Halloween show, The Night Before Rumble on 44th Street. Rosser stated that he's thinking about dressing up as the Black John Cena at the event, where there will be a taping of NJPW STRONG.

"I don’t remember the exact person, but however it came about, Michael Tarver from the Nexus, he would call my chin, I had the All-American chin. I don’t know how that came about, me being the black John Cena, but it’s funny. New Japan Strong is doing a show in New York, a Halloween show, and I’m thinking about dressing up as the Black John Cena. So we’ll see how that goes at a New Japan STRONG show. I’m still thinking about it. I think that’s what I might be for Halloween, the Black John Cena, but it’s gonna be my own way, you know, my own version of it, so we’ll see if I do it or not. I’d have to shave the goatee off, too, so I can have that pronounced chin like him, so I think that’s what I’m gonna be," Rosser said.

NJPW' will hold shows on consecutive nights in New York City on October 27-28. The second event will be the Rumble on 44th Street, and the company recently announced more matches for the lineup. The first show, The Night Before Rumble on 44th Street, will be a mystery card.

Tommy Dreamer previously discussed how he wanted WWE to Fred Rosser, but the company was relucant to bring him in because he looked too much like Cena. Check out his comments here.
