Gable Steveson still has dreams of a WWE career.
Wrestling out of Minnesota, Steveson hopes to follow in the footsteps of Brock Lesnar, who turned his amateur wrestling career at Minnesota into arguably the most successful combat sports entertainment career in history.
Speaking to Gopher Sports, Steveson discussed his WWE aspirations and relationship with Brock Lesnar.
"My relationship with Brock has been awesome. It?s outstanding that a guy like that has noticed me and has gone out of his way to be there for me and guide me in the right direction. We all know who Brock is on TV, but behind everything else, he is a nice person and he has done some amazing things for me," he said.
When discussing why he believes he's the next "Next Big Thing," he said, "This is a dream I?ve had since I was a kid. Everybody grew up watching WWE when they were young, I know I watched it. It?s just been a lifelong dream of mine. I think I?m really good with a camera. When I bring my talk and my confidence level, people listen."
Steveson's sophomore season ended early due to COVID-19, but he was named first-team NCAA Division I All-American. Before he enters a WWE ring, he remains focused on his amateur career.
"All I am focused on right now is winning. My time with the WWE will come if it comes. I just need to control what I can control, which is to keep winning and being dominant in my finishing years," he said.
Steveson also mentioned wanting to become the next public figure for Paul Heyman, who has famously served as the advocate for Brock Lesnar.
Currently, Steveson remains in college and awaits another chance to get on the mat after missing out on a potential NCAA Title this year.
