Gail Kim Says She Went Into Auto-Pilot After Concussion At IMPACT 1000

Gail Kim looks back at the injury that she suffered at IMPACT's 1000th episode.

In September of last year, IMPACT would tape their 1000th episode of their weekly program. On the program, there would be a huge multi knockout tag team match where Awesome Kong, Gail Kim, Jordynne Grace, Mickie James & Trinity defeated Angelina Love, Deonna Purrazzo, Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans & Tasha Steelz. In what would be Gail Kim's first match since 2019, Velvet Sky would pull Kim off the apron, leading to Gail hitting her head on the concrete floor below.

Kim would later reveal that she had suffered a concussion during the spot, and in an interview with Ring The Belle, Gail would look back on the injury.

"Basically, I hadn’t wrestled for five years. Things happen. I feel like I’m around it so much that maybe I didn’t get in enough practice, maybe, I don’t know. Things of freakish nature happen all the time. My leg got pulled, my body rotated, and it just happens. I don’t think anybody knew until some video got released on social media the next day because I woke up to maybe twelve people sending me the video."

Kim would continue, noting that after taking the fall, she was on auto pilot for the rest of the matchup.

"I was definitely in auto-pilot mode at that point, for sure. We do have that. I didn’t know what was going on, I just knew I got the wind knocked out of me, as far as I knew, and I just kept on going." she said.

Kim has not competed in the squared circle since IMPACT 1000, but in the same interview, teased possibly entering the 2024 Women's Royal Rumble match. You can read more here.
