Giulia Discusses Transition From NXT To SmackDown, Hopes To One Day Command The Ring With Her Aura
Elsewhere during the junket, Giulia chatted Asuka.
Giulia is two months into her run on WWE’s main roster. She is on the Friday Night SmackDown brand and is currently reigning as the Women’s United States Champion.
Giulia participated in a media junket (quotes via Tokyo Sports) and commented on her transition from NXT to SmackDown. She said the pacing is different and hopes to one day be one of the wrestlers who can control the ring with her aura.
“NXT is like professional wrestling designed to keep viewers from changing the channel, with moves coming one after another without any pauses. On the other hand, SmackDown is slower-paced. When I was competing in Japan, I preferred to take my time during matches, but here the timing is different, and I’m still learning. Watching the top wrestlers’ matches, they command the ring with their aura. I want to become someone who can overwhelm others with my aura someday.”
Elsewhere in the junket, Giulia spoke about Asuka. She expressed happiness that Asuka is back in the fold and is hoping to face her.
“In Japan, it’s not uncommon for the losing fighter to shine more. But what Asuka taught me was, ‘In the U.S., all the spotlight goes to the winner. There’s a world of difference between winning and losing.’ That’s how tough the environment is. Because of Asuka, the path to WWE women’s wrestling was opened up, and somehow it’s connected to where I am now. So, fighting Asuka is one of my goals and dreams. I’m really happy she returned, and I hope to face her soon.”
Giulia is going to be part of WWE’s Evolution Premium Live Event on July 13th. She’ll be in a battle royal, and the winner will go on to challenge for either the WWE Women’s World or WWE Women’s Championship at Clash in Paris.
