It has been more than 12 1/2 years since Goldberg had a professional wrestling match and, as his showdown with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series approaches this Sunday, the former WCW and WWF world champion admits that he is nervous about returning to the squared circle.
Goldberg discussed his Survivor Series main event with Lesnar during an appearance on the NFL Network's Good Morning Football show on Tuesday.
"Hell yeah I'm nervous, look at me I'm sweating," Goldberg said. "I'm very nervous all the time, but like I say, if you're nervous it means you're alive, it means you're at the top of your game. If I wasn't nervous I'd flip out, I wouldn't know what was going on. The setting in Toronto is going to be a little strange, I can't predict what's going to happen, I can't predict how they're going to feel, I can only say it's going to be a special moment for everybody involved. At the end of the day I have to bring it home."
After leaving WWE in the spring of 2004 following a match with Lesnar at WrestleMania XX, Goldberg had not appeared for WWE until last month, when he returned to answer a challenge laid out by Lesnar's "advocate", Paul Heyman, Goldberg has been on three total episodes of Raw in the build to this match. That included a face-to-face confrontation with Lesnar this past Monday on the go-home episode of the program before Survivor Series, which is this Sunday in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Raw ratings for the most recent episode were up by 4 percent.
