Grayson Waller and Austin Theory want to be the best tag team champions ever.
At WWE WrestleMania XL, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in a Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match. The Raw Tag Team Championship was also on the line, and The Miz and R-Truth captured the titles.
Speaking on WWE's The Bump, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory discussed their victory at WWE WrestleMania XL, and the duo was asked whether they would say they were the greatest team to ever compete in a ladder match.
Grayson Waller: Hands down.
Austin Theory: We are the greatest tag team in any kind of match.
GW: You see all these flops? Slowly [climbing] in pain? We aren’t hurt a little bit. I just stayed away, I stayed down. These people are too dumb to attention to us. Then, when the opportunity comes, bang, bang, bang, I’m up. We’re the new tag team champions. Oh, the hush over Philadelphia, which we kind of Iike. We don’t want the cheers. It made me really happy how disappointed everyone in that crowd was to see us winning these tag championships. Get used to it.
Later in the interview, Waller made it clear that they wanted to be the best tag team champions of all time, and they intended to bring the titles back to relevance. He noted that there were a lot of good tag teams, but they were superstars.
GW: We’re not just happy to be the champions. We are here to be the best tag team champions of all time. We’re already the best tag team in the world right now. The thing about the tag division in WWE is, it’s stacked. Raw, SmackDown, NXT too, the draft’s coming up. There’s a lot of good tag teams, but we are superstars. That’s what differentiates us from everyone else. We’re superstars, and we are bringing these tag team championships back to relevance.
