Grayson Waller: Shawn Michaels And NXT Know To Look At Australia For Talent
Grayson Waller comments on the massive wave of Australian talent taking over professional wrestling.
Whether in WWE, TNA, or elsewhere, Australian wrestlers have taken over the scene in recent years. Rhea Ripley is one of the top stars in all of WWE. Indi Hartwell, Cassie Lee, and Jessie McKay are three of the top women in TNA Wrestling. Bronson Reed is one of the top heels in all of WWE. There’s also Grayson Waller. Even ZARIA is currently a top star on WWE NXT.
Waller was a WWE NXT main-event talent. He’s also gotten the chance to hold gold on the WWE main roster, winning the WWE Tag Team Championship with Austin Theory at WWE WrestleMania XL
During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Grayson Waller commented on how proud he is of the rise of Australian wrestlers in recent years.
“It makes me really happy, because when I started training in Australia, I knew from the start that the talent was there, and the talent’s been there for a long time, but I think Australia is untapped. When it comes to the American indies, everyone is signed. The UK indies kind of got guarded a few years ago, and they’re slowly coming back. But, I think Australia is the region where there’s so much talent, and because we’re so far away, and it’s hard to get your eyes on it, these people just sit there waiting for their chance.
“So someone like ZARIA, who gets picked up by NXT straight away, she’s an absolute killer down there. She’s crushing it, and I think that’s going to happen more and more as like, you know? I think Shawn and NXT know, hey, if we want someone good, we go to Australia, and there’s 10 or 15 guys and girls sitting there who can be on TV in two weeks. So I think it’s something that’s been a long time coming, and I’m proud that it’s finally happening.”
WWE just held an event in Perth, Australia. At that event, Bronson Reed picked up one of the biggest wins of his career, defeating Roman Reigns. Fans can find results from WWE Crown Jewel here. Check out the post-show podcast for a full review here.
