Gunther attacks Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown.

On the 5/1 WWE SmackDown, Ricky Saints stepped up to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Rhodes accepted Saints’ challenge, and their match was booked for later in the show.

Towards the end of the match, Ricky Saints picked up Rhodes for a Roshambo, but The American Nightmare reversed it into a Cody Cutter for the victory.

Immediately after the title defense, Gunther attacked Cody from behind and put him in the sleeper hold.
