Gunther Defeats AJ Styles With Low Blow-Powerbomb Combo On WWE Raw

Gunther continues his winning ways.
The January 12 episode of WWE Raw was headlined by a singles contest between Gunther and AJ Styles. There was a solid amount of build heading into the match, primarily due to Styles taking issue with Gunther’s attitude since his defeat of John Cena.
In the end, Styles was not able to back up his frustration. In the finishing sequence of the match, ‘The Phenomenal One’ suddenly broke the Calf Crusher submission that he had ‘The Ring General’ trapped in. Styles claimed to the referee that Gunther had tapped. The referee confusingly shut down those claims, telling the timekeeper to continue the match.
While the referee was distracted, Gunther used the moment to blast Styles with a low blow. Moments later, the former World Heavyweight Champion nailed Styles with a powerbomb to score the pinfall victory.
