Gunther: I Would Never Drop The WWE Intercontinental Championship On Purpose

You will have to beat Gunther to take his championship.

Gunther is the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion of all-time and is close to breaking Pedro Morales' record for the longest reign across multiple reigns with the title. Pedro Morales has held the title for 619 days between his two reigns.

Gunther is at 525 days during his current run.

Appearing on The Masked Man Show with David Shoemaker and Kazeem Famuyide, Gunther was asked if he would drop the WWE IC title if it meant getting an automatic shot at the WWE World Title.

"No, no, that's not going to happen. I can break every streak in the world, I would still not trade it in. God willing, I will be the World Champion at some point and I will have earned it. It will not be a hand out. That's important to me. I would never drop the Intercontinental Championship on purprose. That's not going to happen," he stated.

Gunther is set to defend the WWE IC Championship against The Miz at WWE Survivor Series.
