Gunther On WWE Sale Rumors: I'm Not The CEO, I'm A Wrestler

Gunther doesn't know anything about WWE sale rumors.

On January 7, WWE reportedly hired JPMorgan to assist with a potential sale of the company. The news came one day after Vince McMahon officially returned to the board of directors, claiming he needed to return to help lead the upcoming round of media rights negotiations.

WWE has not put out an official statement regarding any sale rumors.

Speaking to Joe Hayden of the Dallas Morning News, Gunther was asked about the rumors.

“I mean, rumors are rumors. And at the end of the day, I’m not the CEO. I’m a wrestler. So, I focus on what I do in the ring and leave the business to the people that do business," he said.

On Tuesday, Stephanie McMahon announced her resignation as Co-CEO of the company. She took over the role of Co-CEO with Nick Khan after Vince announced his retirement on July 22, 2022 amid sexual misconduct and hush money allegations.

Speaking about Stephanie's decision, Gunther said, “To be fair, I only had very brief interactions with her. She’s always been very nice and very lovely. And yeah, I’m happy for her that she’s going to be able now to take time off and enjoy time with her family. And yeah, I think you should be happy for anyone who’s in a position to do that. All the best to her.”

Gunther is set to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Braun Strowman on Friday's WWE SmackDown. Fans can check out the current lineup for the show by clicking here.
