Hammerstone Reflects On Reunion With MJF, Feels They’ve Always Had A Genuine Friendship

MJF shocked the wrestling world at MLW Summer of the Beasts when he made a surprise appearance, attacking Mistico.
In a digital exclusive, MJF reunited with his Dynasty brother Hammerstone, even getting a feel of Hammer’s pecs.
Speaking to Jeremy Lambert and SP3 on In The Weeds, Hammerstone reflected on his reunion with MJF.
“We’ve had a few chances over the last couple of years where we’ve run into each other, but it hasn’t been as frequent as I would like. We have stayed in touch. It’s always a little difficult because we know how this world works. When all of a sudden you have that friend who takes off to the top of the mountain, I’m sure he’s got so many people in his phone, ‘Hey brother, how you doing?’ I never want to be that guy. I always felt me and Max have a very genuine friendship. I’ve always managed to keep in touch with him without being overbearing, but we haven’t had a lot of chances to see each other.
“That whole day was just wild. I had a red eye flight to get to New York. Of course, I’m at the venue, sleeping on the couch. I feel a shake and it’s Court (Bauer). ‘I have a surprise for you.’ ‘What’s up?’ ‘You miss MJF? You want to see Max today?’ I’m just like, ‘No, that’s not happening. There is no way that’s happening.’ Even with how crazy the world of pro wrestling is where you get these crossovers and you’re seeing these partnerships and working together, ‘That’s not happening.’ Even once I realized Court was like, ‘Yeah, this is happening.’ There is still part of my brain that is like, ‘You think it’s happening. You think you made the deal, but it’s pro wrestling. It’s not happening until it’s happening.’ A couple hours later when I got the grab of my shoulder and got to see Max, it was a really cool moment.
“This day and age, it’s really hard to keep things kayfabe and have a surprise for the night before some idiot is spilling the beans to the internet early. To get to pull it off, it was pretty cool.”
Though the reunion with MJF was a highlight for Hammerstone, he didn’t have quite as much luck in the ring as Matthew Justice turned his MLW National Openweight Title bout against Ultimo Guerrero into a triple threat. Justice was pinned in the bout by Guerrero.
