Harley Cameron On Tag Team With Willow Nightingale: Even Though We’re Champions, We’re Still Finding Our Groove
Harley Cameron has her first wrestling soulmate — Willow Nightingale.
The duo recently became the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions, defeating the duo of Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa to win the titles at Winter Is Coming. Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Cameron talked about the win and how she’s honored to represent the titles.
“Thank you. I feel very honored is the best way I could describe. I feel very honored because it means a lot to represent AEW and it is amazing to be part of history now. Willow and I are the first ever AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions. It’s something that we are just so thankful and excited. We’re really honored to represent it. Yeah, the first ever, so we’ll go down in history.”
Cameron went on to talk about multiple of her full circle moments with Nightingale.
“Yeah, she was my first match in AEW and actually that was the second match of my life. It’s crazy. I say it all the time, it’s such a full circle moment. We’ve had a lot of them. I was like, ‘You’re my first match that I ever had in AEW.’ Even when we were just in Cardiff, it was crazy that we were there together as champions because this time last year we were in Cardiff as opponents. So there’s been a lot of like full circle moments between us and it’s really wonderful to have been in so many great experiences in this journey with her.”
Even as champions, Cameron and Nightingale are still finding their tag groove on a weekly basis.
“It’s a lot of trial and error. Every single week, and we still are, we’re finding our groove even though we are the champions. We have only recently this year been tagging so it’s kind of seeing what fits, what makes sense. We luckily have very, I think, similar energies and personalities in ways. So it’s been really fun and I think a perfect fit. We’ve definitely tried some things and thought, ‘Yeah, that didn’t really—that’s not really good… That doesn’t work.’ But we’re definitely finding our groove. It’s just fantastic working with her. I think we gel very well together.”
