Mosh and Thrasher, the Headbangers, are very passionate about their tag team finisher, the Stage Dive.
The Headbangers are a WWE tag team from the window in time that bridges the gap between the New Generation Era and the Attitude Era. Former WWE Tag Team Champions, they were also very innovative in their offense. Their signature move, the Stage Dive, is a combination of a Powerbomb and a Leg Drop, and they're very proud to say that it's not a move that has been ripped off in the decades since the end of their heyday in WWE.
During an interview with Jonah of Rewind Recap Relive, Mosh and Thrasher reveal how they moved him to be and brag about it being one of the best tag team finishing moves and all the time.
"Don't get me Goddam started. Goddammit. There's not a tag team finisher better than the Stage dive. Why? Because nobody can do it today. We were the only ones to do it, the only ones to still do it, and nobody can do it today. Everybody does the 3D and every other tag team finisher, but nobody does the Stage Dive. Fight Me," said Thrasher.
Mosh noted that the best person to ask about the first time to move with it properly is probably D'Lo Brown, who took the move plenty of times when they were first trying it out. They also revealed that they swapped the order of who did the Powerbomb portion and who was performing the Leg Drop.
"Actually, the best person to ask would be D'Lo. D'Lo was down at the school. He took that probably 1000 times, which meant me sitting on his face, a boot to his head, Glenn sitting on his face before we figured it out," said Mosh.
Thrasher added, "How the whole thing started is when I used to go to bed at night, I used to have a pad and pen next to my bed, and I would wake up throughout the night, write down moves. I woke up one day, and it said, 'Powerbomb and a Leg Drop.' I was like, 'What the fuck?' So then we went down to the school."
They revealed that at first, Mosh was the one doing the Diving Leg Drop, but he didn't like coming off the top, so they switched it, and D'Lo Brown was their test dummy until they got it right.
Mosh and Thrasher signed WWE Nostalgia deals several years ago, meaning their likeness is occasionally used for merchandise and video games. Learn more here.
