Enzo Amore is different, to say the least.
His unique promo style has landed him a spot on WWE's main roster, and gained him the attention of wrestling fans around the world. In a new interview, Enzo told CBS Sports that he 'stepped in doo doo' and got his chance by knowing Triple H's trainer Joe DeFranco.
"I gave [DeFranco] a link to a YouTube video and said, 'If you could, please show this to Triple H.' Triple H saw it and he gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to go down to Tampa and try my best to become a WWE superstar," Enzo Amore told Denny Burkholder of CBS Sports."I got lucky, basically. I stepped in some doo-doo."
Many wondered if Enzo would run out of material for his always-entertaining programs, especially when moving from NXT, where he'd sometimes be seen once or twice a month, to the main roster's 5+ hours of original weekly programming. With the WWE's brand split going down, it eases some of that pressure, but according to Enzo, being sidelined with a concussion earlier this summer also allowed him some time to focus on new promos.
"I wrote basically a novel of material while I was injured," Enzo said. "We hear a lot of that in any given instance where I have a microphone in my hand. You know, when you're injured, it never stops. You just gotta find ways to keep it moving. Stay invested in yourself. Stay invested in the company and the investment that they made in you."
