Hideo Itami won't be in a WWE ring for a while.
Itami is expected to be sidelined for two months with his neck injury, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Itami was injured when taking a powerslam awkwardly from Riddick Moss in a tag team match at an NXT live event on October 1.
The Japanese superstar was originally planned to team with Kota Ibushi in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but was forced to withdraw due to the injury. He was replaced by WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins.
It could have been much worse for Itami, as he was likely to miss upwards of a year if he underwent neck surgery. Itami returned earlier this year after being out of action for well over a year due to a shoulder injury.
Itami said that he won't be wrestling at next month's NXT Takeover: Toronto, but is going to Japan for the NXT tour later this year.
