Hikaru Shida will defend the Regina Di Wave Championship on the December 9 episode of AEW Rampage.
On the December 2 episode, The Bunny and Penelope Ford confronted Shida after her win over Queen Aminata. The following week, in a video page, The Bunny stated that she has spent the last six months rehabbing her neck and watching people get opportunities she deserves. She vowed to come for Shida's title and make her feel the way she felt during her time on the shelf. Shida accepted the challenge.

Shida, a former AEW Women's World Champion, won the title at the WAVE 15th Anniversary show on August 14. She previously defended it against Emi Sakura on AEW Dark: Elevation. Shida also retained the gold against Yuki Miyazaki at WAVE Let's Enjoy on November 6.
The Bunny had been sidelined with an injury since April, but she recently returned to action on AEW Dark: Elevation. She was scheduled to face Toni Storm on the November 16 episode of AEW Dynamite, but she was pulled from the match due to an illness.
