Hiromu Takahashi is back, defeating Will Ospreay to capture the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14.
Takahashi, working his first singles match since July 2018 when he suffered a broken neck, didn't miss a beat as he went step for step with Ospreay in a high action affair. Ospreay spent a large portion of the match focusing on the neck of Hiromu, but he could not put the challenger away. Hiromu managed to survive a Hidden Blade and fend off the Storm Breaker. Ospreay kicked out of the Time Bomb, but Hiromu debuted a new move, a leg tap inverted brainbuster, to pin Ospreay. The move is currently without a name.
Hiromu was forced to relinquish the title following the neck injury in July. This marks his third reign as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.
