Hiromu Takahashi Defending GHC Junior Heavyweight Title At NJPW Destruction In Kobe

GHC Junior Title to be defended at an NJPW event.

Pro Wrestling NOAH’s current GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion is NJPW’s Hiromu Takahashi. Takahashi was in action at the 9/24 NJPW Battle Line Hokkaido show, and he teamed with Yota Tsuji and Shingo Takagi to face the War Dogs (Taiji Ishimori, David Finlay & Gabe Kidd).

After the War Dogs secured the victory, there was a post-match interaction between Ishimori and Takahashi. The two talents were already scheduled to clash at NJPW Destruction in Kobe on September 28th, but Takahashi suggested putting the GHC Junior Heavyweight Title on the line.

Here are excerpts from NJPW’s site about the challenge:

Ishimori went to say something on the mic after the decision was rendered, but was cut off by Hiromu. Saying that he ‘hadn’t been beaten like that for a while,’ Hiromu said he ‘wouldn’t be satisfied’ just beating Ishimori in a special singles match in Kobe and demanded the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship would be on the line.

Telling Ishimori that the winner would go on to defend the title against Eita in Ryogoku. Hiromu insisted ‘we don’t need checks and balances, nobody needs to ask NOAH’, which likely cements the fact that this is a unilateral decision on Takahashi’s part. Neither NOAH management nor Eita are likely to be pleased with the comments, but what will come to pass in Kobe?

The winner of Ishimori versus Takahashi will go on to defend the GHC Junior Heavyweight Title against Eita at NOAH’s October 11th event.

Ishimori spent 12 years working with NOAH and is a three-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion.
