Ian Riccaboni looks to make history with his new ROH deal.
As first reported by Fightful Select, Ring of Honor commentator Ian Riccaboni has extended his agreement with the company.
ROH Re-Signs Longtime Employee
We brought additional details of Mike and Maria signing ROH deals last week, but they've also nailed down an important part of their presentation. Ian Riccaboni's contract would have been up at the start of April per reports of his last signing, but in asking around with Ring of Honor sources, he actually re-signed with he company late last year. We're told that he's signed with the company well into the summer of 2023 at least. Riccaboni had interest from other companies in the past, but opted to continue with ROH.
Confirming this report on Twitter, Ian confirmed that this new deal will allow him to be the commentator on more Ring of Honor events than any previous announcer before him including Lenny Leonard and Kevin Kelly.
Ian also stated that he refrained from celebrating when he signed the agreement because of the grave circumstances the world was facing because of the pandemic.
@ringofhonor and I quietly extended our agreement during the early stages of the pandemic. With the timing of the pandemic and the overall great loss we collectively experienced due to COVID-19, it was a conscious decision to not celebrate this publicly at the time the agreement was reached although I'm extraordinarily thankful.
ROH has always accommodated my work/ family balance and my other commitments and provides generous compensation
The agreement puts me on pace to call more ROH TV episodes and ROH events than any previous announcer and I am humbled by this. I appreciate everyone who has supported ROH and look forward to calling The Best Wrestling on the Planet for a long, long time.
Hey! This has been up for a few hours so it's probably OK to scoop @SeanRossSapp's scoop. Here are some thoughts about my @ringofhonor extension (which is now a few months old!). https://t.co/ADnZcExObz pic.twitter.com/Znwk51mV3e— Ian Riccaboni (@IanRiccaboni) April 21, 2021
