The event name is a nod to IMPACT Wrestling being "hard to kill" over the years as the company has survived multple regimes, talent losses, downgraded television deals, payment issues and more.

IMPACT held its Slammiversary XVII event on July 7, 2019 from Gilley's Dallas in Dallas, Texas. The event, headlined by Sami Callihan taking on Tessa Blanchard and Brian Cage defending the IMPACT World Title against Michael Elgin, reportedly drew 1,200 fans.
