Indi Hartwell Recalls NXT Higher-Up Telling Her She Couldn't Wear Ghostface Gear

Indi Hartwell got into a disagreement with a higher-up during her time in NXT.

Indi Hartwell had a memorable run as a member of The Way in NXT. Among other highlights, the group used a Ghostface costume at NXT Halloween Havoc 2020, as a masked individual interfered in the NXT Women's Championship match between IYO SKY and Candice LeRae.

During a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, Indi Hartwell was asked about the Ghostface costume that The Way used in NXT. She noted that she had Ghostface gear made for a match, but she was told that she wasn't allowed to wear it.

“So that ghost face thing with Candice [LeRae], I think it happened on Halloween Havoc in 2021 or maybe 2020. Then a few years later, I had a Ladder Match at l Halloween Havoc, so I got Ghostface gear made. But then right before the match, I was told by a higher-up, very high up person who’s no longer there, I wasn’t allowed to wear the Ghostface gear because of copyright reasons. I tried to argue and say but we did it on TV a few years ago. But they said no, so then I couldn’t wear it," Hartwell said.

When asked whether she argued with the higher-up, Hartwell said that they didn't argue, but Steph De Lander had to pull her away.

WWE released Hartwell in November 2024.

Hartwell's first post-WWE match has been announced. More information is available here.
