Big news out of NXT UK.
To open the June 23 episode of NXT UK it was announced that Ashton Smith ruptured a medial cruciate ligament and needs surgery. As a result of his injury, he and Oliver Carter vacated the NXT UK Tag Team Titles, which they won on the June 2 episode of NXT UK.
Smith & Carter were set to defend the NXT UK Tag Team Titles against Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen.
Instead, a four-way bout elimination bout was announced for the vacant titles with Briggs & Jensen going against Mark Andrews & Wild Boar, Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz and Die Familie (Teoman & Rohan Raja).
Briggs & Jensen would still walk away with the gold, winning the elimination bout by last eliminating Die Familie.
This marks the first reign for the NXT UK Tag Team Titles for Briggs & Jensen.
